AREA INFORMATION
Elephants taking a bath with their young, a group of zebras filing past on their way to the watering hole, herds of springbok in the savannah, a pair of lions lazing under a bush - in Etosha you experience animals in the wild. The 22,700 km² national park sustains more than 110 different species of mammals and more than 230 species of birds. Its name is derived from the huge salt pan of a dried up lake (Etosha = large white place). Established in 1907, the park is one of the oldest conservation areas in Africa.
