Fiume is owner managed and situated just 35 km north from the town of Grootfontein and mere 3 km from the B8, Fiume Lodge is an ideal stop over for travellers en-route to the north of Namibia, the Caprivi as well as Botswana and Victoria Falls. The Lodge’s ideal location also provides easy access to Bushman land, Khaudom National Park and Etosha National Park. The lodge is situated on a 1400 hectare private game farm with different big game species and smaller mammal species. Since the change in ownership Fiume has completed the 7th chalet, acquired a swimming pool and has made some additional/minor changes and upgrades to the lodge as a whole. Comfortable accommodation is offered in 7 stylish chalets, all equipped with air-conditioning/heater, en-suite bathroom, twin- beds, mosquito nets, tea & coffee station as well as built-in cupboards to lock valuables for peace of mind. Each chalet is built from stone and topped with thatch with interior designed with rose pine wood to create that cosy “warm” feeling people appreciate when travelling far from home. • Bushmen Excursion With our own Bushman translator Jörn Gressmann (who speaks the language fluently) the lodge offers full and half day Bushman excursions to Bushmen land which provides a glimpse into the lives of this ancient civilization. For full day tours clients will receive lunch packs and will arrive back at the lodge just before sunset. Clients can expect the most informal, liberating learning experience about these people, their history, lifestyle and culture. Curious available directly from the Bushmen or sold at the lodge. • Game Drives Morning or afternoon game drives can be done on the 1400 hectare private owned land. Some of the game on the lodge includes Eland, Oryx, Zebra, Kuku, Hartebeest, Impala, Springbok, Blesbok, Giraffe and Ostrich as well as many different bird and smaller mammal species. Game drives are about1½ -2 hours in duration exploring the bush and its inhabitants. • “A day in the life of a Namibian Farmer” Excursion A half or full day including breakfast and lunch with the farmer and his wife. During breakfast the farmer will explain what’s on the agenda for the day as well as a bit of history about the farm and the animals farmed with. From there guests will accompany the farmer observing and taking part in the duties assigned for that day. If clients decide on a half day activity they will leave after lunch and the full day clients will leave the farm just before sunset.
