History and fond memories were transferred into a country house in 2008. We invite you to experience an old Farmhouse Story. Historical points: The Country House was originally known as "Oom Tom se huis" . The country house was established in the early 1800's on the farm Klein Soebattersvlakte. During the most southern battle (Anglo boer war 1901) the stables were used as a hospital. The first ever gravel road between Riversdale and Stilbaai was built on the farm and is still in use today. The famously known store "Oom Boet se Winkel" was the only general dealer in the 1900's. What awaits you: Today's accommodation in yesterday's style and traditional hospitality. Braai facilities. Guided tour to the cheese factory on the farm, including cheese tasting. Taking part in all the farming activities on this working farm (weather permitting).

The town of Riversdale lies on the N2 and has become known as the Floral Paradise of the Garden Route. The town is a mecca for nature lovers of all ages and especially for fynbos enthusiasts. From here you can hike, bike or take a horse trail. To the North of the town is the famous Sleeping Beauty Peak in the Langeberg, and a mountain pass leads you to the Klein Karoo. A little to the East of Riversdale is the small town of Albertinia named after a local preacher. The town is situated in a major sheep and wheat region and is well known as being South Africa's main producer of red and yellow ochre and of kaolin. There are two factories that process gel from the aloe based here. A Farm Story - Guest Farm is situated between Riversdale and Albertinia on route to Stilbaai.

Directions to A Farm Story Country House Route from Cape Town Airport (321 km – 3.5 hours). Take the N2 to Somerset West and Mossel Bay (Garden Route), pass Somerset West, Caledon, Riviersonderend, Swellendam, Heidelberg and Riversdale onto the branchoff to Stilbaai, turn right on to R305, direction Stilbaai and follow the road, after 9,5 km turn right on the Melkhoutkraal/Klipfontein turnoff, within 800m turn right, a small private road leads you to a Farm Story Country House.
