Seaside bed and breakfast cottage by the beach and river... Jenny’s super-relaxed seaside home with its cosy cottage and sunshine suite are situated in lawny enclaves that lead to narrow paths, one over the low dune to the main beach with its fine white sand and the other via marsh reeds to the “brandy wine” river which has its own sheltered silvery sanded beach. Enjoy this slice of unspoiled nature and watch baboons troop by, or maybe even catch a glimpse of the shy otters playing in the river. For bird lovers there are both estuarine and fynbos birds to identify. Sink into the hammock outdoors in Readers’ Corner with a good book, from where there are also magnificent views over the reed edged river estuary to the dramatic mountains to the north. Breakfast is served on the main house deck from where you may see whales – particularly during July, August and early September. In the evenings there are spectacular sunsets to be enjoyed looking over False Bay and viewing the whole of the Cape Peninsula from Cape Point to Table Mountain whilst sipping sundowners on the deck or perched on the sand dune bordering the main beach.
