This legendary house was originally designed by Norman Eaton for world-famous South African Artist Walter Battiss in 1939. Rescued from being demolished, Battiss House was lovingly renovated in 1986. The gleaming wooden floor and rounded windows (from Pretoria Boys High School) the Battiss murals on walls and bathroom floor have been kept intact. The Guesthouse management and staff is fully dedicated to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible, offering the simplistic and peaceful surrounds of Fook Island as a escape to the fast forward pace of everyday life. From Johannesburg International Airport: Take the R21 to Pretoria. Proceed about 37 km and take the Pretoria East / Pietersburg Freeway (N1). Proceed about another 8 km and take the Atterbury offramp (after Rigel / Delmas). Turn left at the top of the offramp into Atterbury Road. The road forks about 50 m along Atterbury Road - keep to the left, into Charles Street. Turn right into 20th Street. Battiss / Zeederberg Guest House is the second-last house on the left.
