Kruger Cottage Description
Kruger Cottage is a charming thatched house in a unique area of the earth. It is located in Marloth Park, a Nature Conservancy, where game roams freely through the unfenced gardens. The intriguing, life-bearing Crocodile River is a short 150 metre walk from Kruger Cottage, where an extensive walking path situated next to the Kruger Park southern boundary fence allows you an elevated view of all the wildlife that gathers at the river inside the Kruger Park. Take a morning walk or drive with coffee cup in hand, bring your camera and binoculars and even a folding chair and be ready to see an amazing variety of birdlife, as well as an abundance of larger animals: hippos, wildebeest, crocodiles, warthog, elephant, rhinos and even lions. There is a viewing point where you can sit and view the river. The Accommodation, Kruger Cottage is a private, self-catering house that sleeps 6 -8 and is only rented to a single group at a time, ensuring your privacy. Linen is provided. An open floor plan and vaulted thatch roof form a comfortable common area that connects to a large covered verandah, where a splash pool and braai (outdoor barbeque) awaits. A fully functional kitchen shares a vaulted ceiling with the spacious dining area and living room. The master bedroom has a private (en suite) bathroom. Cooling tiled floors throughout lead you to the verandah and pool where you can relax and listen to the sounds of the hippos grunting in the river, the hooting of the owls and other wildlife as you enjoy sundowners or a braai from the comfort of Kruger Cottage. Expect to see an abundance of wildlife at closer range than you thought possible. Watch enthralled as zebra, giraffe, monkeys, baboons, warthog, impala and kudu walk right through the garden. The dangerous carnivores such as lion and hyena and rhino are not present around the houses. They can be viewed in Marloth Park’s own fenced game park, Lionspruit. (and of course in Kruger Park) Domestic animals are not allowed in Marloth Park.
AREA INFORMATION
From Kruger Cottage, you can venture into Kruger Park through one of the two nearby gates (Crocodile Bridge or Malalane), both gates are an easy drive of approximately 30 and 35km respectively. Drive in using your own vehicle or choose a locally guided tour option. Explore neighbouring countries if you are looking for variety. Marloth Park is a great base from which to explore Swaziland and Mozambique. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit and snorkel gear if visiting the latter! A local shop provides the basic essentials, petrol and liquor, and if you wish to eat at the local restaurant, there are a few to choose from. Kruger Cottage offers competitive rates and standard breakage deposit. The house is professionally cleaned once a week but other arrangements may be made at a fee. There is a bus service from Johannesburg and Pretoria to Nelspruit. Here you can hire a car and continue your journey. You are also able to fly to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.
Kruger Cottage Directions
