Mansfield Game Reserve Description
Perfectly situated midway between Port Elizabeth and East London and halfway between Durban and Cape Town, Mansfield Reserve lies nestled amongst 1000 acres of lush undulating grassland and thornveld plateaus and offers a variety of accommodation such as Mansfield Lodge, Eagles Nest Cabin, platforms and camping. Vegetation is typical Eastern Cape sweetveld and bush with the landscape and kloofs providing ideal habitat for rare cycads, sneezewoods, yellowoods, Cape milkwoods, white ironwoods, pearthorn and knobthorns to name but a few. This combination of sweet grassland, thornveld and densely wooded valleys make this Reserve unique and an ideal Game Reserve. This biosphere is perfect for both browsers and grazers, which allows varied stocking capacity and variety of game. Port Alfred has for years been the holiday choice for generations of families which have enjoyed the peaceful safe environment and pristine beaches and surf. Mansfield is only a short drive (or by boat a little longer) from the beach and river mouth (which has Indian Ocean access).
AREA INFORMATION
The scenic coastal town of Port Alfred lies midway between Port Elizabeth and East London on the Kowie River. It is a bustling commercial and residential town in magnificently picturesque surroundings. The climate is wonderful, especially from November to June, with calm days and crisp nights, sunny summers and mild winters. The atmosphere is tranquil yet abuzz with outdoor activities including river and ocean watersports, horserides and trails in neighboring game reserves and aviatic activities at the local Air School. in the lagoon, along golden beaches or in the Royal Alfred Marina and the Marina's small boat harbour.

From Port Elizabeth: Take the R72 directly to Port Alfred. Drive through Port Alfred, over the main bridge and continue towards East London. Take the R67 for Grahamstown / Bathurst, sign posted on your left as leaving Port Alfred. Continue for approximately 7km. Mansfield Reserve is sign posted on your left. From East London: Take the R72 to Port Alfred. As you enter Port Alfred, take the R67 to Grahamstown / Bathurst, sign posted on your right. Continue for approximately 7 km. Mansfield Reserve is sign posted on your left.
