Not far from Joburg and Pretoria, nestled in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site lies the newly opened world class visitor centre Maropeng, which includes a 24 room, 4 star boutique hotel. Maropeng means 'returning to the place of origin' and this is reflected in the interiors of the Maropeng Hotel. The four elemental forces of nature earth, fire, water and air that kick-started our planet many millions of years ago feature prominently in the overall look. The Maropeng Hotel blends with the environment through indigenous landscaping, use of natural materials (including bamboo & stone) and faces north / north west to make best use of light and temperature. Accommodation consists of 24 studio rooms and the facilities include an intimate restaurant, swimming pool and bar all with breathtaking views over the Magalies- and Witwaters- mountain ranges. The Maropeng visitor attraction is a 5 minute walk away. The world famous Sterkfontein Caves are 10kms away.
