Morukuru Lodge Description
Morukuru Lodge is one of the 3 villas belonging to the Morukuru Family. It is situated in the malaria free, Big Five Madikwe Game reserve.
The 3 suites each come with their own fireplace and tree-shaded deck, and a kids' room (complete with TV, DVD and internet access) that accommodates four junior guests. The Villa Lodge provides you with all the comforts of home - your own kitchen, dining room, lounge, large pool and comfortably furnished decks. Better still, each lodge comes with its own safari guide, tracker, chef, butler and, if required, nanny - allowing you to truly set your own pace. Word soon got out that this was the perfect way to commune with Africa; alone, the only human presence people handpicked by you. Staff presence at Morukuru is discreet; should you wish to be completely alone, you need only say. The idea is not that you are a guest, but that you are - for the duration of your stay - the owner of this bush paradise.
AREA INFORMATION
Madikwe is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa and is malaria free. Besides many other wildlife species, the Big 5 animals can also be found in the reserve.
The Reserve borders Botswana and is located in North West Province, 90 kilometres north of Zeerust, about 3.5 hours' drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the few reserves in southern Africa, which is malaria free.
Located in South Africa along the Botswana border, 20 km from Gaborone, the reserve lies within a transition region between Lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld. As a result the region is host to an incredible diversity of species from both ecosystems.
Geographically the region has enormous volcanic intrusions known as Inselbergs, wide open plains and the riverine environment along the Marico River in the east of the reserve. The rich diversity of vegetation ensures a wide range of game and the topography offers ideal game viewing opportunities. Madikwe is home to 66 mammal species including the Big Five and more than 300 resident and migrant bird species.
