The Guest house in Cape Victorian Style, was the townhouse of Mr. Reitz, a gouvernor in the early ages of 1900. Family Reitz lived actuality on a farm in the Overberg region. They visited the town on church days,and stayed for a few days at The Old Thatch Lodge. That was long ago, but still today the atmosphaere in and around the Guest house is like in the old days.
So enjoy your stay in our beautiful accommodations and relax at our lounge with open fireplace. Your breakfast will be served inside the guest house lounge or outside on the green terrace under the thatch roof.
AREA INFORMATION
The Dutch East India Company in 1747 founded Swellendam as an administrative center for the valley of the Breede River. The town was named after the Dutch governor Hendrik Swellengrebel and his wife Helena ten Damme. Located at the foot of the Langeberg this historic town with its oak lined streets and Cape Dutch style homesteads has two nature reserves nearby. The Swellendam hiking trial is a must for avid hikers.

Direction from Cape Town coming:
1. You take from the N2 the first possibility to turn in to Swellendam.
2. You come on a big 4way stop and turn right in the mainroad from Swellendam - Vortrekk Street.
3. After approximately 2 km you see on your left side a church and on your right side a supermarket called "Olyfberg Supermarket".
4. In the bent from the mainroad left you turn into MOOLMANSTREET. Big sign.
