Oudekloof Wine Estate & Guest House Description
Oudekloof is a charmingly restored Cape Dutch farmhouse, nestled on the slopes of the Obiqua mountains. It has four en-suite bedrooms, and one double bedroom in the main house, with a large kitchen, wrap-around verandah, pool, and outdoor braai area for entertaining. Oudekloof is the perfect outdoor getaway for families. Children and adults will enjoy the freedom to roam safely through the vineyards and up the mountainside. The trails, hidden sand dunes, and diverse flora and fauna offer a natural playground for children to learn and explore. There is plenty to do at Oudekloof, from swimming to hiking to biking – or simply swinging beneath the giant oak and stargazing. It’s a child’s paradise
AREA INFORMATION
The historic country town of Tulbagh lies only ninety minutes from Cape Town. Located among a sea of canola and lush green fields, and surrounded on three sides by towering mountains, the town offers a wealth of 1800's history and charm. The valley was first discovered by European settlers in 1658 and land grants were made to 14 farming families in 1700. The town was developed in 1743 when the museum church was built. Following the 1969 earthquake, every historic home in Church Street was painstakingly restored to its original glory. These thirty buildings now constitute the largest concentration of National Monuments in a single street in South Africa. Walking down Church Street is like stepping back in time. Amble down historic Church Street, where quaint coffee shops sit side by side centuries-old Cape Dutch buildings. Spend time in the Oude Kerk Volksmuseum learning about the lives of the early European settlers, check out the shops, or just relax on the stoep of some of the oldest buildings in South Africa.
