The Cavern has been introducing overseas visitors to the joys of mountain holidays for six decades. The Cavern, named after the 'Cannibal Cavern', is situated on 3000ha of private mountain reserve adjacent to the Amphitheatre World Heritage Site. This stunning resort has won numerous awards. Superior and Standard accommodation is available with spectacular views of the surrounding mountians and indigenous forests. Honeymoon suites are complete with four poster beds. Our Superior accommodation is set away from the main resort, in tranquil gardens with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. The thatched accommodation blends beautifully with the massive sandstone cliffs, indigenous forests and cool mountain streams. The Cavern is home to numerous Bushman paintings, over 180 recorded species of birds, 150 species of trees and numerous wild game. The Cavern offers daily guided hikes to bushman paintings and rock carvings. For the more energetic walks are organised to the Tugela Gorge and the top of the Amphitheatre. Private Bag X1626 Bergville 3350 From Johannesburg travel to Harrismith on the N3. At Harrismith take the N5 route to Bethlehem for 4km. Turn left towards Qwa Qwa on the R74. Travel 8km turn left following the R74 to Bergville and the Oliviershoek Pass. After 38km turn left to the Northern Drakensberg. The Cavern is well signposted.
