Troutbeck Resort Description
Zimbabwe’s highest peak, Mount Inyangani, provides the stunning backdrop to the Troutbeck Resort, nestled in the Eastern Highlands of the country. Scenery more akin to the Scottish Highlands than sub-tropical Zimbabwe welcomes guests to this unique part of the country and offers a respite for those wishing to escape the summer heat of the Highveld. A “country club” ambience prevails in this hotel and its staff perpetuate the feeling with discreet but highly polished African Sun service. The open fire in the hotel foyer has been alight since the opening of the property, 45 years ago, and is the physical embodiment of the warmth of the welcome all guests enjoy. Troutbeck Resort’s 70 well-appointed rooms are increasingly used by those wishing to combine pleasure with business. Conference facilities, with the Rainbow Trout Suite holding up to 400 people, are complemented by the resort’s own 9-hole golf course and well-stocked lake. As well as golf and trout fishing, a swimming pool, tennis, volleyball and squash courts are there for the holidaymaker or conference-goer to enjoy. The resort’s capable and willing staff will organise meetings and conferences with their now famous panache can arrange horse-riding, hill climbing and sightseeing trips to World’s View, and even prepare your catch from the lake for consumption at the hotel or the journey home. The trademark “country club” feel dominates the well-appointed cocktail bar and the spacious Beck’s Restaurant, well known by the locals and visitors alike for its superlative buffets. Its more traditional table menus are at the core of its guest service, as this part of the world with its mountain air produces healthy appetites. A three-hour drive from Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, is all it takes for guests to enjoy the peace, tranquillity and splendour of the Eastern Highlands. A visit to Troutbeck Resort can be as actively invigorating or as restful as anyone could hope for. Golf clubs, fishing rods and tackle and a zest for the outdoors are the standard kit of many of the resort’s guests. For others, curling up in the lounge with a good book, occasionally taking in the panoramic view, enjoying home-baked scones with locally-grown tea, is what Troutbeck Resort is all about..
