The Namaqualand region of South Africa extends all the way into Namibia and is quite popular during the spring months when the daisies are in full bloom. The region comes to life at the end of the rainy season when the daisies jump up from ground and colours in the landscape to compliment the normally arid region.

The Namaqualand is sparsely populated and distances between towns can be quite grueling. The Northern part of Namaqualand forms part of Namibia. The main town of the region is Springbok witch serves as an important administrative capital and a popular stop over for people going between the Cape and Namibia.

The region is home to the hottest temperatures in South Africa. The Namaqualand is an interesting place to see and spend time in. If you don’t plan in going there you’ll have to at least stop over when coming from or to Namibia. The majority of the population speaks Afrikaans and the down to earth attitude makes it all the more worth while.
