Grootfontein is a city to the North of Windhoek, in the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia. Grootfontein find itself in the Otavi triangle, a part of Namibia where the towns are rather green during summer. Grootfontein is also close to a natural hot spring, the Gross Barmen hot spring. Grootfontein can claim to have the largest meteorite to have ever fallen on the surface of the earth. The Hoba meteorite is also considered to be the largest body of naturally occurring Iron in the world. Grootfontein also lays on the B8, the national road the runs between Windhoek and the Caprivi Strip, which makes it the ideal stop over spot.
