Addo in the Eastern Cape is a small town that has many surprises to the discerning visitor. Home to the Addo Elephant National Park, the nature reserve claims to have one of the biggest Elephant populations in the world. In addition to this there is also the biggest population of the flightless dung beetle. The park currently takes up an area of about 1,640 km2 with plans to extend it to 3,600 km2. There is an abundance of animals in the park to please any visitor.

Addo is a small town located in the Eastern Cape interior, fairly close to the city of Port Elizabeth also known as “the friendly city”.  Addo has all amnesties’ that you’ll need but PE is always just a short drive away, should the local shops not stock what you’re looking for. The natural beauty of the Eastern Cape is a big bonus as its draws many visitors annual, thus boosting the tourism sector.

 The Eastern Cape is the traditional home of the Xhosa, an indigenous people found in South Africa. The province is also the birthplace of Nelson Mandela, Africa’s greatest statesman. A visit to a Xhosa village should be very rewarding, as their customs and traditions make up an integral part of South Africa. Addo is the perfect place to go, if you want to discover the Eastern Cape.
