Serowe Travel Guide

Home, Serowe Travel Guide

Serowe, one of the biggest villages in Botswana, located west of the road between Gaborone and Francistown. Serowe is to be found in Botswana’s Central District and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to visit the Kalahari. The infrastructure is adequate, and you should not have any short coming bearing in mind that it is Africa.

The town of Serowe is noted for being the birthplace of a couple a presidents of Botswana and since the turn of the century the town has steadily grown to become a well equiped location.  The population, over 90,000 keeps the economy healthy. Botswana, as a whole, has one of the best economies in Africa. There are lots of activities in and around Serowe that’ll keep you entertained for hours on end.

The Kalahari Desert is close by, and this wilderness is known throughout the world for its open landscapes and populations of meerkats. The nearby Khama Rhino Sanctuary is wonderful for game drives and to get out into the wild. They have a selection for mammals and they provide lodging too, making it a great place to stay at when visiting the area. Also nearby is Kgotla or ‘tribal court’, definitely worth a visit.

All in all Serowe is a great spec on the landscape of Botswana, and it close proximity to Zimbabwe makes it great for those who self-drive on their way to Victoria Falls, or any of the nearby National Parks, of where there is a great selection. Serowe won’t disappoint, and you’ll be surprised how sophisticated Botswana really is.
