EXPLORE Pilanesberg National Park

Pilanesberg National Park, better known as Pilanesberg, is Game Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa. It fringes the Sun City complex and is situated west of Pretoria.

Pilanesberg is possible one of the most accessible game reserves in the country and is situated in the ecologically rich transition zone between the Lowveld and the Kalahari. The reserve is bordered by three rings of hills and was named after a Tswana chief. The major geological feature that the park boasts is the Pilanesberg Alkaline Ring, a result of a volcanic eruption some 1200 million years ago. Unusual rock formations can thus be found here and is one of the world’s largest volcanic features. Pilanesberg Game Reserve is not only malaria-free but also flaunts a vast ecosystem with rich wildlife including the Big 5 and a number of endangered animals. Over 300 bird species have been recorded and the lush vegetation comprises of plants like the red bushwillow, wild pear, blackthorn and sweet thorn, only to name a few.
Self-guided and guided walks are available where game and bird viewing can be enjoyed.  Accommodation is available in the form of lodges to ensure a comfortable stay. There are campsites just outside the reserve for those seeking a natural and a true wildlife experience. Situated in close proximity to Pretoria and Johannesburg, visitors can enjoy a safari experience while not leaving the comforts of the city life too far behind. Sun City is also a great day-trip for families to enjoy.
Accommodation in Pilanesberg provides travellers with a safari experience that is situated close to civilization and the comforts that the city provides. Pilanesberg accommodation offers glorious safari lodges, guest lodges and self-catering accommodation suitable for all sorts of budgets.

Robberg Beach Lodge

What a beautiful Lodge, excellent service (5 star), location is one of the best in this country. We received outstanding service from a team that exceeded every need we had as a family. The breakfast is outstanding and they catered for my children's needs which included items not on the normal breakfast menu.
