A chaming agricultural town located on the banks of the Vaal River in North West South Africa is Bloemhof.
The town was founded upon the discovery of diamonds in the area and was named Bloemhof, meaning " flower court" due th the abundance of flower gardens in the town.The town is also well-known for its large dam, The Bloemhof Dam which is a fisherman's haven. Several animals such as the abtelope and various species of birds can be spotted and it is a great place to spend a day. The Bonanza Fishing Competition takes place annually at the dam and see thousands of people participating and getting merry.
Other water sports to enjoy include paddling, sailing and white water rafting. There are vrious other sites to visit in an around the town and some to the best destinations include Hartbeespoort Dam, Pillanesberg National Park and the SA lombard Game Reserve.
Accommodation in Bloemhof is limited but it is a perfect stopover base for those traveling throu the North West.
