Rooi Els, literary meaning"red alder" is a small seaside village in the Overberg district of the Western Cape, South Africa.
The town is located on the eastern shore of False Bay and just 5km from Pringle Bay. Rooi Els is also located in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve and spectacular wildlife can be viewed. Most spotted animals include the chacma baboons, rock hyrax, caracal, and the African clawless otter.
Tucked away in the Klein Hangklip Mountains, the village boasts an abundant and endemic birdlife and over a thousand plant species in winter, the village is a very good destination for spotting southern right whales, dolphins and seals are seen all year round. Other activities to enjoy include cray fishing or even spending the day at the beach where you can rest on the natural sand dunes, swim and enjoy beautiful sunsets.

What a beautiful Lodge, excellent service (5 star), location is one of the best in this country. We received outstanding service from a team that exceeded every need we had as a family.
