Caprivi also referred to as the Caprivi Strip and Okavango Strip, is a thin strip of land that is about 400km long, in south-east Namibia.
It lies in the centre of Southern Africa and is bordered by Angola, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe three perennial rivers crossing Caprivi. This is what makes it a wetland paradise for animals and birds.
As a result of Caprivi being situated in a wetland area where three rivers cross, there is an abundance of water and thus supports large herds of game and wildlife. This is why many travellers love visiting this destination in addition to the tropical climate. The main town of Katima Mulilo is the commercial centre of the Caprivi Strip. Many smaller villages, where indigenous people still live and are part of the conservation efforts of the state, are spread across the region. Considering that there is no fencing, animals roam freely in and around the area, including neighbouring countries. This is what make is a prime location for game safaris.
Caprivi is home to three state-protected national parks, namely the Mamili, Mudumu and the Bwabwata National Parks. Other tourist destinations such as Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and the Chobe National Park are major attractions for all who visit this stretch of land. The Zambezi Region too is a spectacular place known for its magnificent bird life.
Accommodation in Caprivi offers a delightful variety of bush and safari lodges, self-catering chalets, luxurious guest lodges and, for the more adventurous, camping. Another unique experience are tented camps that provide travellers with all the luxuries necessary while connecting with nature in a very real and raw sense. Whatever it is you are looking for, Caprivi Accommodation will provide you with an unforgettable experience.
