La Rochelle Lodge Description
"La Rochelle" was offered as a present to the French family du Preez in 1945 by the South African government for outstanding merit during the war. The ancestors of the family were Hugenots from La Rochelle in France. The du Preez family developed "La Rochelle" as a hunting and guest farm over the years. La Rochelle is situated some 40 km north east of Tsumeb and some 500 km north of the capital Windhoek in the vicinity of Etosha National Park. The farm was built in the same style as Fort Namutoni and rebuilt entirely in 1994 by it's new owner and turned into a 3 star hunting lodge. Today, La Rochelle presents itself with thatched - roof bungalows in African parkland landscapes under old fig trees in a generous setting. Our apartments have an African ambience with air-conditioning, seperate bathrooms with shower and toilet, mini bar and phone, offering a marvellous experience in the bushveld. All bungalows have their own terrace with a view of the waterpoint or the pool.
