La Rochelle Lodge Description
"La Rochelle" was offered as a present to the French family du Preez in 1945 by the South African government for outstanding merit during the war. The ancestors of the family were Hugenots from La Rochelle in France. The du Preez family developed "La Rochelle" as a hunting and guest farm over the years. La Rochelle is situated some 40 km north east of Tsumeb and some 500 km north of the capital Windhoek in the vicinity of Etosha National Park. The farm was built in the same style as Fort Namutoni and rebuilt entirely in 1994 by it's new owner and turned into a 3 star hunting lodge. Today, La Rochelle presents itself with thatched - roof bungalows in African parkland landscapes under old fig trees in a generous setting. Our apartments have an African ambience with air-conditioning, seperate bathrooms with shower and toilet, mini bar and phone, offering a marvellous experience in the bushveld. All bungalows have their own terrace with a view of the waterpoint or the pool.
Enjoy a marvellous family vacation around our swimming ppl with more activities such as horse riding, fitness training, whirl-pool, game drives, mountain - biking, table tennis, tennis court with flood-light installation or clay-pigeon shooting and archery. Excursions by car or aeroplane can be organized for you at any time. We will spoil you with African and European specialties in our restaurant. We offer a varied buffet for breakfast, lunch or lunch-packs on excursions, dinner at our barbecue area under the magnificent African stars at night will be the romantic end of a day full of experience. Our professional guides will introduce photographers and video filmmakers to Namibia's rich fauna and flora. You can view Kudus, Oryx, Ostrich, Eland, Zebra and many other species in their natural habitat while stalking or sittingin a blind. With some luck you may be able to see leopards and cheetah.
