Okavango Delta Travel Guide

Home, Okavango Delta Travel Guide

The Okavango Delta, the biggest inland delta in the World, is home to a rich array of plants and animals. The Okavango River, stretching from Angola to Botswana via the Caprivi Strip in Namibia empties in the 15,000 Km/2 area. World famous for its varied Fauna and Flora, the Delta forms part of the Moremi Game Reserve.

The Delta is home to some of the best Safari Lodges and Tented Camps Southern Africa has to offer. What makes these Camps and Lodges in the Okavango Delta so special is their focus on Nature. Accommodation in the region focuses on having Nature as close as possible and within easy reach.

The area is a haven for Bird watching as there are nearly 500 species of birds, including water birds and forest dwellers. The landscape also includes all the land animals from the African Wild Dog to Zebras. The complex system of lagoons and channels supports such a diverse population of animals. The Delta is also a popular spot for Game Fishing.

Because of the location of the Delta, most Lodges can only be reached via light aircraft.  The Lodges have their own airstrips and flights form Maun is the recommended way of travel.
