EXPLORE West Coast ( Western Cape)

The West Coast of South Africa is a region in the Western Cape that is flanked by the Atlantic Ocean and the Swartland.

Stretching over 400km from Bloubergstrand all the way up to Namaqualand, the West Coast refers to a vast piece of land that presents itself as versatile beauty covering a diverse selection of areas. The Cape Winelands, the Breede River and the Northern Cape all feature in the West Coast, considering its versatility, it is a popular holiday destination with many things to do, see and experience.

The fauna and flora here vary depending on the area but a diverse range of geology and natural life is featured at the West Coast National Park, Rocherpan Nature Reserve and Bird Island Nature Reserve amongst many others. The West Coast is also an area rich with marine life where whale and dolphin watching are popular activities that can take place along the coast on land or in the sea by boating or even diving. The Cedarberg Mountains are also a great attraction of the West Coast as are the small fishing villages like Yzerfontein, Langebaan and Paternoster to name a few, situated along the coastline. There are many historical towns that offer a range of recreational activities in addition to their rich historical nature, such as Darling and Citrusdal among many others.

Outdoors activities and expeditions are the top attractions of the area for there are many hiking trails and other adrenaline-pumping sports and sightings. The cuisine offered in this area is rated as some of the best, specifically the seafood that pairs well with wine tastings and fields of flowers and nature in its most raw form. Globally relevant fossils have been discovered along the West Coast that date up to 5 million years ago. It is safe to say that the West Coast is a place with much to discover and explore ranging from nature in every form, food, drink and an atmosphere that will rejuvenate.

Accommodation in the West Coast is as diverse as the scenery with lodging that manifests in all ways imaginable, suitable for all kinds of budgets. Guesthouses, bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation is widely available while other West Coast accommodation such as camping, caravanning and safari lodges are also on offer. Ranging from luxurious accommodation to standard and budget friendly accommodation, the West Coast has it all.

Robberg Beach Lodge

What a beautiful Lodge, excellent service (5 star), location is one of the best in this country. We received outstanding service from a team that exceeded every need we had as a family. The breakfast is outstanding and they catered for my children's needs which included items not on the normal breakfast menu.
