Rich in culture and people, Polokwane provides a unique South African Experience.

Polokwane, formerly known as Pietersburg, is the capital and cultural hub of the Limpopo Region. It is the urban heartbeat of the province with a vibrant mix of cultures – the epitome of what South Africa represents, a rainbow nation.

A lively and bustling city with wide streets, pleasant green spaces and striking jacaranda and coral trees, Polokwane is an energetic and idyllic city to experience. Situated on the N1, providing an alternative route to the Kruger National Park, the city is hard to miss. It is the perfect stop-over when travelling further North towards neighbouring countries such as Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Culturally rich, Polokwane has much to offer travellers, from incredible wildlife to fascinating historical attractions and exquisite cuisine and accommodation options. Visit the Polokwane Art Museum where an excellent display of South African art can be found including the Hugh Exton Photographic Museum that displays an exhibition of 23 000 glass negatives that capture the evolution of the city and the history of technology from 1892 to 1945.

The Bakone Malapa Northern Sotho Open-Air Museum is a must-see in order to experience the contemporary customs and traditions of the BaSotho people, a sub-group of the Northern Sotho cultural group. Take a stroll through the bright green Irish House where a comprehensive collection of displays on the history of Limpopo can be found, including some archaeological findings.

One of the capital city’s trendiest places to be is the Meropa Casino & Entertainment World where a variety of clubs, conference venues, coffee shops and restaurants can be found.
