Seeheim was founded as a base for the German Schutztruppe and served as a junction station for railway line the diverted from Keetmanshoop to Lüderitz and Karasburg.
Although Seehiem offers very little to do and to see, it is conveniently situated close to many attractions that you can visit to keep your day entertained. 10 kilometres from the town is a gorge formed from the Fish River further forming a waterfall that flows into the Fish River Canyon.
