EXPLORE Worcester

Worcester is a small but lively city in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is located just over a 100 km north-east of Cape Town. Worcester is also situated in the in the popular Breede River Valley, where it is surrounded by a range of majestic and lush mountains.

The town developed in the early days of Cape history, mainly because it was a hunter’s paradise with vast opportunities for game and wild-bird hunting.  It was then formerly established as a town in the 1920’s, and slowly became a farming town.  The town also forms part of one of the Cape’s wine routes, The Cape Winelands.

For food lovers, Worcester is also a perfect destination for you to experience various culinary arts available from several restaurants in the area, as well as cheese and olive farms.

Worcester is a great place to be for a weekend getaway as it offers exciting opportunities for adventure and many other outdoor activities.  One can enjoy hikes in the surrounding mountains, river rafting, mountain-biking and 4x4 trails. Worcester’s location in the Brede River Valley also allows the town to boast a variety of flora and fauna, and visiting the Karoo National Botanical Gardens will be a great place to start.
