ahaa! art retreat and accommodation is situated on the hillside overlooking Gordon?s Bay on the coastal Overberg route, nestled on a hill with stunning panoramic views of the Helderberg, Gordon's Bay harbour and beach, with Table Mountain and Cape Point across False Bay. Our Gordon's Bay retreat contains eight luxury ensuite units with stunning pearly sand beaches a short walk away. Each room has air conditioning, cable TV, fridges and tea/coffee making facilities, and a continental breakfast is included in the room rate. The spacious outdoor garden area contains braai (barbecue) facilities, a swimming pool and a peaceful spot for contemplation under our own ancient milkwood tree, amid awesome views of the beach and harbour. Our art studio is located on the top floor of the guest house. We have regular exhibitions of local African artists, as well as a permanent collection of local works. We have aimed to create an environment where you can take time out to communicate with art and nature in a tranquil setting and meet with like-minded people who care about happiness, art, Africa, people and our planet. ahaa! is also the setting for a range of eclectic events, such as art and craft markets, fashion shows and soirees by resident opera singers and local musicians.
The hamlet of Gordon's Bay is at the start of the awesome drive along the Overberg coast, meandering through Rooi Els/Pringle Bay en route to Betty's Bay within an international biosphere reserve, which includes the world famous Harold Porter Gardens. The retreat is also within easy reach (40 minutes) from Hermanus, renowned for its Southern Right Whale sightings.
FROM CAPE TOWN: 1. Take the N2 highway in the direction of the AIRPORT. 2. Pass the airport turnoff and continue along the N2 towards Somerset West. 3. Pass through Strand and turn right at sign which reads GORDON?S BAY / R44 / KLEINMOND. 4. This road ends in a T junction at Gordon?s Bay where you turn right into BEACH ROAD, GORDON?S BAY. 5. Take the third road left, VAN DER BYL STREET 6. At the end of the road, turn right into WATT STREET 7. 48 on Watt is located about 300m down the road on your right. FROM GARDEN ROUTE DIRECTION: 1. On the N2 after Sir Lowry?s pass you will see the sign for GORDON?S BAY / R44 / KLEINMOND - turn left. 2. This road ends in a T junction at Gordon?s Bay where you turn right into BEACH ROAD, GORDON?S BAY. 3. Take the third road left, VAN DER BYL STREET 4. At the end of the road, turn right into WATT STREET 5. 48 on Watt is located about 300m down the road on your right.
