Just 70 kilometers south of Gaborone is a small town in Botswana called Lobatse.
Lobatse is situated in a valley and is set amongst hills and an avenue of tall shady trees. Lobatse is home to evergreen and lush vegetation that allows for wildlife and birdlife viewing.
Lobatse is home to several exciting archeological remains that are worth discovering although some of them may need permission. These sites include stone walls and settlements from the Ngwaketse and the Bangweketse tribes that inhabited the area in the 1700s. Just outside the town, there are sites of beautiful rock painting by the Khoi herders between 1000 and 1700 AD.
