In the East Rand area of Gauteng is a small mining town, Nigel.
The town is situated within an easy drive distance, south-east of Johannesburg and Springs and Brakpan are also nearby. Nigel was found on a farm in 1886 after gold was discovered in the area. It has since remained a mining town and other large industries have also developed here.
