EXPLORE Sea Point


Sea Point is a lively suburb of Cape Town along the Atlantic seaboard in close proximity to the city centre with many restaurants, clubs, and shops.

A popular area among locals and travellers for its ocean and mountainous view and its prime location. There are many high-quality hotels and accommodation in Sea Point ranges from self-catering guesthouses to some of Cape Town’s top hotels.One of Sea Point’s most prominent features is the beachfront promenade. Stretching across Sea Point from Bantry Bay to Mouille Point, the paved promenade is a popular location for locals and visitors alike. A lush, green lawn can be found across the contoured path with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean opposite it. Many joggers, cyclists, skateboarders and dog walkers can be found throughout the morning and evening enjoying the fresh sea breeze and majestic sunrise and sunsets.  

The promenade boasts delightful children’s play parks and works of art with benches to sit upon and marvel at the beauty that is Cape Town. The historic red and white lighthouse, dating back to 1824, is hard to miss when strolling along the promenade. It was the first lighthouse built on South Africa’s coastline that was extended to its current height in 1865. Self-guided tours can be had where visitors can read up on some historical facts about Cape Town. 

There is a putt-putt course and kiddies train ride for children to enjoy with the Sea Point pools at the Bantry Bay side of Sea Point. These pools are regarded as the most beautiful and well-kept public pools in Cape Town. It is built right on the Atlantic Ocean, with a 50m Olympic size swimming pool, two splash pools and a deep diving pool. The beaches in Sea Point are not suitable for swimming since the waters tend to get quite rough, especially in winter with tidal displays dancing along the promenade. 

One of Sea Point’s popular excursions is Cape Town’s first drop-and-go bicycle hire, making it easy for anyone to explore the city and its hidden gems. Taking a cycle along the promenade and having a picnic on the green pastures is a great way to relax and spend some quality time outdoors in a busy city. Table Mountain, Signal Hill, and Lions Head can be seen from different angles along the beachfront.

While staying in Sea Point’s luxury villas and apartments or family friendly homes and guesthouses, some of this suburbs many restaurants should be visited. If eating out isn’t what you are up to, visit the Delicatessen’s and cafés or just the local grocery stores for some of your own condiments and have a picnic on the greenery by the promenade or in your own self-catering accommodation. 

Sea Point is one of the most central suburbs with Camps Bay, the City Centre, sand the Waterfront just minutes away; it is the perfect area from which to explore all that Cape Town has to offer.
