The Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban is another of the newly built stadiums in South Africa or the 2010 World Cup. The Stadium is being built on the Kings Park Sporting Precinct, in close proximity to the ABSA Stadium, Sahara Kingsmead Cricket Stadium and the Greyville Racecourse, where the annual Durban July.
The Stadiums’ size and design is awe-inspiring. The Moses Mabhida Stadium features an arch spanning 106 meters over the pitch and will hold the roof in place. The arch will include a funicular, offering visitors spectacular views of the Stadium as well as the city of Durban.
The Stadium will host five group games, a second round game and one of the semi-finals. These seven games will see 70, 000 people flocking to the stadium each time. This will contribute to just fewer than half a million people watching World Cup football in the Durban Stadium alone. The Matches taking place in Durban are as follows: Group matches will be held on the 13th, 16th, 19th, 22nd and 25th of June. The second round match allocated to the Moses Mabhida Stadium will happen on the 28th of June and one of the semi finals on the 7th of July.
The infrastructure of Durban and abundance of hotels, guesthouses, bed & breakfasts and self-catering establishments is up to scratch to handle the numbers coming to

Durban is one of the most interesting places culturally, and a melting pot of Zulu, Afrikaans, English and Indian. There are large markets that sell all kinds of spices, curious, Zulu crafts and loads more. The Stadium is located next to the ‘Golden Mile’, a popular strip frequented by holidaymakers coming to the city. The stretch of beach, including the promenade leads all the way to the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World; all within stones throw of both the CBD and Beachfront. Durban is famous for it’s tropical weather and laidback attitude.
