Arniston or Waenshuiskrans, as it’s also known, is a picturesque little fishing village on the Overberg region on the Western Cape. The name comes from the British ship that sank on those shores in 1815. Arniston lies in close proximity to the beautiful town of Swellendam and Cape Agulhas, the Southerly most point in Africa.

Arniston is a relaxed seaside town, years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is a town that you can wind down in and relax. This little Overberg town is home to a National Monument, Kassiesbaai. This little white housed, thatch roofed, tightly knit fisherman’s village is something you can’t miss. You can even go to an authentic fisherman’s dinner in on of the houses.

Arniston is close to the De Hoop and De Mond nature reserves, preserving the fauna and Flora of the region. This fynbos country is home to an abundance of bird species has wonderful whale watching opportunities.

Arniston is only 2 hours’ drive from Cape Town, and a visit is definitely recommended, as the drive, the hospitality and time spent relaxing will stay in your memories for years afterwards.
